Calabash Festival

Calabash Calabash FestivalThe Calabash Festival is named after the calabash since the fruit has long been identified as one of Montserrat’s cultural items. The calabash tree produces the fruit, which has been used traditionally to produce an eating utensil, musical instruments and decorative items. The event involves a calabash exhibition at the Montserrat National Trust, a Cultural Explosion at the Festival Village and much more…

The 5th Annual Calabash Festival is carded for July 18 -25, 2010. The week-long event offers a wide selection of festivities that highlights the creativity and talents of local artisans and designers. Named after the calabash fruit that was traditionally used to produce eating utensils, musical instruments and decorative items, the festival seeks to promote the destination through a range of events. This year’s program includes a daily Calabash Exhibition, an adventure hike, a gospel concert, Prof. Dr. George Irish Lecture Series, a Caribbean cultural food fair, cricket match and a grand finale summer music festival.
